Since the popularity of cannabidiol (CBD) has increased, the number of mistakes and myths about the plant and its components has gone up as well. Even though the laws around CBD and CBD Flowers are now more relaxed, there’s still a lot of misinformation about this substance. So does CBD actually have a mental effects? Are there medical benefits for the body? Does CBD have calming properties? In this blog post, we’ll clear up these and other questions as well as the most common myths, because having the right info is absolutely crucial for responsible and conscious use.
What are CBD Flowers?
Cannabidiol is extracted from the leaves and Flowers of the female cannabis plant. The CBD Flowers in our online shop are produced under strict regulations and, in line with EU standards, contain less than 0.2% THC. They’re strictly monitored at every stage of growth and are of natural origin as well as a pure raw material product. Unlike THC, CBD has no psychoactive effects and therefore doesn’t fall under the Narcotics Act. And that already lets us clear up the first myth.
Myth no. 1: CBD works like THC, just without the high
That’s not correct. Based on current research, CBD works very differently from THC, because CBD interacts differently with the body’s own endocannabinoid system:
- CBD binds to the receptors of the body’s own cannabinoid system and affects our body in different ways – from serotonin and pain receptors to enzymes.
- CBD can counteract the intoxicating effects of THC, because it is an antagonist to THC.
The non-psychoactive, i.e. non-intoxicating CBD is approved as a medicinal product and can be prescribed by a doctor. Further processed, CBD can also be used in oils, in cosmetics and even in food products.
Myth no. 2: CBD is illegal
Hash, marijuana, hemp, CBD – a lot of people think CBD is illegal because it’s extracted from the cannabis plant. That’s only partly true. As long as the psychoactive THC content is below 0.2%, CBD is completely legal. When you buy our CBD products, you don’t need to worry, because our products comply with EU standards and can be purchased without any issues.
Myth no. 3: CBD cures everything
As CBD became more popular, it was quickly hyped as an almighty cure-all. That’s also not correct. Even though CBD is said to have some medical benefits, for example that it helps with certain forms of epilepsy, research is not yet advanced enough to confirm a healing effects of CBD. Depending on what kind of issues are involved, people attribute positive effects to cannabidiol. If you do decide on CBD treatment, you should definitely see a doctor who can assess the potential benefits of CBD for you and determine the right dosage with you. However, CBD does not replace medication.
Myth no. 4: CBD has no side effects
Even though CBD has no psychoactive or intoxicating effects, the substance can definitely cause side effects such as tiredness, diarrhea, or changes in appetite or weight. However, these side effects are very mild compared to some medicines used to treat illnesses. So CBD can also have side effects.
Myth no. 5: CBD is addictive
CBD is not addictive – this claim has even been clearly disproved scientifically. Back in 2017, the World Health Organization (WHO) published an article on cannabidiol stating that CBD is not addictive. According to WHO, it has no effects that could lead to dependence. In addition, in 2020 the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg ruled that psychotropic effects of CBD can clearly be ruled out based on the current state of research.

Our CBD products have no psychoactive effects, so you won’t experience a high. They also aren’t addictive. Still, if you use them regularly, you need to pay attention to possible side effects, although these tend to be milder than when taking medication. If you decide on CBD treatment, you should have CBD prescribed as a medicine by your doctor. However, research on CBD in medicine is still not complete and will certainly bring some interesting results to light in the coming years.
